Born from the cooperation between Comarch and Studiolabo (agency behind the project of the Brera Design District) Brera Smart District mobile app has just been released. Thanks to the integration between the Comarch Smart City platform and Brera Design District, the app will help visitors to navigate through the myriad of events during the Milan Design Week (April 12-17, 2016). The Brera Smart District App offers innovative communication between district’s partners and end-users based on location based services, Beacon technology and mobile application. After the event the app will remain available to citizens and tourists. The Milan project is only the first of an ambitious plan which Comarch is working: more implementations, not only in Europe but also in the rest of the world, are in fact planned in the coming months.
Brera district is THE district of Milan, the creative and cultural heart of the city. And once again, it is confirmed as the main arena of the Design Week in Milan. The previous edition was composed of more than 138 smaller events visited by over 200.000 people. The Fuorisalone is not a traditional fair and it is not centralized. Nevertheless, it is institutionally recognized and supported by Milan City Council and local Public Transportation Company (ATM). The Fuorisalone started spontaneously in the 1980s thanks to Italian designers and creators of furniture. Currently, it is open also to many sectors including automotive, technology, telecommunications, fashion, food and art. It is one of the most important events of this kind in the world.
Smart Brera District combines both strong technological tradition of Comarch and long lasting years of experience of Studiolabo, reference company for communication design, consulting services, design and graphic execution on different media active also in artistic and cultural events productions. The app is therefore the natural environment to make it the District of Brera even more innovative, usable, distinctive and smart, even after the Design Week will be over.
– We wanted to find a reliable partner with vast experience and know-how in Smart City Applications. Comarch, a company with strong presence in Italy and other European countries turned out to be a perfect choice. After a series of workshops we designed together the concept of the “Brera Smart District App. The work was very intensive and Comarch proved once again that they are enormously flexible and knowledgeable. They felt the spirit of Fuorisalone and helped us to take it to the next level. Now, our event is truly smart – says Paolo Casati, founder and partner of Studiolabo.
The heart of the app is the “Nearby Now” section. One can find here a lot of exclusive offers or promotions. Among others, a user may get unlimited fried doughs – a free treat for gourmet appetites. Under the “Journeys”, there’s a convenient trip planner integrated with an interactive map. The app offers a convenient access to the agenda of Fuorisalone 2016, and “Tourism” tab, i.e. guide to Milan’s main attractions. Additional functionalities such as “Transactions”, “Cart”, “Favorites”, make the app a comprehensive solution dedicated to the participants of the Milan Design Week and people simply visiting Brera district.
The app is a first step for us. It was designed for a small but very important part of Milan, the vibrant Brera District and it is focused on the Milan Design Week. It benefits from the most important elements of Comarch Smart City Platform – beacons, location based services, interactive maps and offers engine. We are planning to implement more versatile solutions soon. They are dedicated to whole cities and give users brand new possibilities. Smart City is a future.
