Turkey Rolled Out Enhanced e-Invoice and e-Waybill System
The Turkish Revenue Administration (GİB) launched an upgraded system for managing e-Invoices (e-Fatura) and e-Waybills (e-İrsaliye). This new platform, called the New Central Application, became operational on December 14, 2024.
Enhancements in the New Central System
Announced on November 21, 2024, the revamped application is designed to streamline the exchange and processing of e-Invoices and e-Waybills. Acting as a centralized hub, the system coordinates interactions between the "Sender Unit" (Gönderici Birim) and the "Mail Box" (Posta Kutusu), integral components for issuing and managing these invoices.
As part of the migration process, the portals for e-Invoice and e-Waybill, along with e-document inquiry services, were temporarily unavailable. During the transition, taxpayers were required to issue their invoices and waybills in printed paper format (e-Arşiv invoices) during the service interruption.
To mitigate potential disruptions, businesses were advised to prepare and transmit any necessary e-Invoices or e-Waybills electronically before the transition.
This transition underscores Turkey’s commitment to advancing its digital tax systems, offering improved efficiency and reliability for businesses managing electronic invoices and waybills.
