Malaysia Extends E-Invoicing Deadline for MSMEs to 2026

The Malaysian government has postponed e-invoicing requirements for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to January 1, 2026. This extension allows businesses with annual sales between 150,000 RM and 500,000 RM more time to adapt to the new system.
Under the revised timeline, taxpayers with annual revenue between 500,000 RM and 25 million RM must comply by July 1, 2025, while smaller businesses will follow in 2026. A six-month grace period applies to both phases, easing the transition.
Additionally, businesses earning below 150,000 RM annually remain exempt. The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia has updated its e-invoicing guidelines to reflect these changes.
