Kerala Introduces E-Way Bill for Gold Transactions

Starting January 20, 2025, Kerala has introduced a new feature within the E-Way Bill (EWB) system, allowing taxpayers to generate E-Way Bills for gold-related goods under Chapter 71. This update applies to the intrastate movement of gold within Kerala, streamlining the process for businesses handling these goods.

Key Points of the New EWB Feature

  • Gold Transactions: The feature specifically covers goods categorized under Chapter 71, which includes gold and its derivatives.
  • Imitation Jewelry Exclusion: The new system does not apply to imitation jewelry, for which taxpayers can continue using the existing EWB generation method.
  • Intrastate Movement: This option is only available for the movement of goods within the state of Kerala, not for interstate transactions.
